Professional Career History:

Judge Firestone formerly was Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Justice Department. Her duties there included managing and overseeing appeals and the defense of the Government in environmental cases. Judge Firestone returned to the Department in 1995 after five-years at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While at EPA, she served as the Associate Deputy Administrator (1989-1992), and as a Judge on the Environmental Appeals Board (1992-1995).

Judge Firestone began her legal career in the Justice Department, where she worked for over a decade on a wide range of environmental litigation and served as Deputy Chief of the Enforcement Section (1985-1989).
