Judge Laws embarked on his career in private practice in 1978, as a partner at Long, Laws, Hughes & Bahen in Salisbury, Maryland. Since 1984, Judge Laws has been a partner at Laws & Laws, P.A. From 1985-94, he taught American Constitutional Government and Civil Liberties at Salisbury State University. On March 22, 1988, Judge Laws was appointed to the position of part-time United States Magistrate Judge for the District Court for the District of Maryland.
