Has anyone heard from Judge Wardlaw yet? Also is it true that she has a reputation for firing clerks / being a difficult boss?

I heard that Wardlaw was reviewing, not sure if she has given out interviews yet. Says that a UMich was hired - not sure when the interview was. I have heard that she fired at least one clerk a year and that she is difficult to work for.

If I recall correctly, the Michigan clerk applied in fall 2008 for a 2009-10 clerkship but was hired for 2010-11 instead.

She's the richest federal judge in the nation, except maybe for Judge Trump Barry, and her husband is extremely well connected politically.

This notion that Judge Wardlaw "fired at least one clerk a year" is ridiculous; while there was talk on another blog years ago about her management style, my understanding (though I could be wrong) is that in over ten years on the 9th Circuit she has fired one clerk and had one other leave voluntarily. I believe all of the gossip about her being difficult to work for dates back to that period, and (even if it ever did) no longer has a basis in fact.

I summered with two former externs, who told me to stay far away. Wardlaw used to be a partner at OMM and apparently still acts like one.

Wardlaw is definitely interviewing alums and 3Ls. And #67 has it right. Good friend clerked for her and raves about it. Don't listen to rumors.
