Though not yet reflected on this page, Judge Barksdale has announced an intent to take senior status on August 8, 2009.

Does that mean he's unlikely to take clerks? I thought some judges that take senior status still hire depending on the workload?

Senior judges will continue to take clerks as long as they keep hearing cases. The exception is that older judges (think 75-90+) will switch to career clerks at some point. There is no indication that Barksdale won't hire as normal though.

Well, Judge Barksdale is definitely the first one I've come across that plainly states on the first page that he "is NOT adhereing to the hiring plan." Then, when you look at the clerkship info page, he allegedly "follows the hiring plan." I'm going to go with 1) does not follow the plan, and 2) has likely already hired.
